FinCEN’s wallet rule is open for another day of comments because ‘government officials can’t count to 15’

The website accepting comments on the proposed FinCEN rule shows crypto users have until Jan. 7, not Jan. 4 as the regulator claimed. The United States Treasury Department may have accidentally widened the window of opportunity for anyone wishing to submit comments regarding the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network’s new crypto rules. Last month, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN, proposed rules that would require registered crypto exchanges to verify the identity of people using “an unhosted or otherwise covered wallet” for a transaction of more than […]

Price analysis 1/6: BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC, ADA, DOT, BCH, XLM, LINK, BNB

Bitcoin’s slow crawl toward $36,000 has given select altcoins the green light to rally higher. Aggressive buying by institutional investors is one of the main reasons for the current Bitcoin (BTC) bull run. Some investors expressed their intent to hold their positions for a few years, but it is also prudent to note that many of these investors have recently developed a love for Bitcoin and their conviction to HODL may not resemble that of the early Bitcoin whales. The current bull market could also differ from […]

With Bitcoin on a dramatic price run, 2021 could be an eventful year for the crypto industry. Bitcoin (BTC) just recently broke through $35,000 as part of a tremendous price rally, in part the result of Bitcoin’s limited supply, according to Diginex CEO Richard Byworth.  “Bitcoin is in the process of starting its post halving bull cycle,” Byworth told Cointelegraph, adding: “The demand side of this equation has been expedited by enormous bank stimulus and investors seeking safe stores of value against increasing monetary inflation. As a […]

Israeli Regulator Designates Utility Tokens Issued by Companies as Securities

The Israel Securities Authority (ISA) recently ruled that utility tokens issued by companies are securities and, therefore, cannot be classified as assets. The ISA’s decision comes after Israeli tech startup Kirobo sought to convince the regulator that its planned token issuance did not amount to a security offering. Token Value Growth However, in response to Kirobo’s claims, the ISA published a position paper explaining why the planned token offering should “be subject to Israeli securities regulations.” In brushing aside Kirobo’s averments, the ISA insists that the “tokens […]
